ATA launches Foundations of Safe Tenting course

The Tent Rental Division of Advanced Textiles Association (ATA) is launching the “Foundations of Safe Tenting” course, a groundbreaking educational initiative developed in collaboration with the American Rental Association (ARA) and the Manufacturers and Tent Renters Association (MATRA). All TRD members can take advantage of this course at NO COST

Designed specifically for tenting professionals, this comprehensive course provides essential knowledge and skills to ensure the safe and efficient installation and dismantling of tents. With an emphasis on industry terminology, best practices and safety protocols, this program will ensure participants are well-prepared to navigate the challenges of tent installations.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Define common terminology in the tent rental industry.
  • Outline key differences between pole-supported and frame-supported tents.
  • Recognize common hazards of tenting and how to mitigate them.
  • List the preparatory steps for a tent installation.
  • Identify how correct anchoring creates strong tents.
  • Recognize the two main methods of anchoring tents and how they differ.
  • Outline the general process for safely striking a tent and leaving a site.
  • Explain why it is important to safely and correctly transport, clean, and dry tents after an event.

The course is designed to be completed in approximately two hours. Upon completion, learners will be required to pass a 35-question exam with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate of completion.
