Fire Code Officials Training

Ensuring the proper setup and anchoring of tents is essential for the safety of occupants. These seminars are designed for fire code officials responsible for plan reviews, permitting, and inspections of tent installations.

Key topics include:

  • Determining the appropriate weight for tent anchoring
  • The current status of water barrel usage
  • Safe installation practices for various types of temporary tents
  • Industry initiatives and updates on relevant codes
  • A comprehensive overview of tent ballasting methods to enhance safety

The session will feature both classroom instruction and a hands-on demonstration of tent anchoring techniques. Open to code enforcement officials, fire marshals, and inspectors.

10 am - 2 pm: Fire Code Officials - Tent Anchoring Class

Join the Tent Rental Division (TRD) of the Advanced Textiles Association (ATA), for an in person tent anchoring class.

Program will include:

  • Detailed explanation of all styles of temporary tents
  • Safe practice procedures of installing tents
  • Tent industry initiatives
  • Updates on codes affecting the tent industry

In this class, attendees will learn more about tent ballasting and the various methods available that will provide increased tent safety. Attendees will also learn more about the ballasting tool available to code enforcement officials, fire marshals, inspectors.

This Bootcamp is designed for the beginner to intermediate tent installer and manager, but this Boot Camp will surely include takeaways for even the most experienced veterans of our trade. During this full day of training attendees will gain useful knowledge and hands on experience in a variety of relevant tent subjects. All will also get the opportunity to socialize with their counterparts of other successful tent rental companies, as well as talk with tent manufactures and other product related companies.

Focus will be on but not limited to the following areas:

  • Safety protocols & tips
  • Tenting basics and installation of:
    • Pole Tent
    • Trac Frame
  • Additional Sessions on:
    • Loading and unloading your truck, including staging for large events such as Coachella
    • Repairs & Maintenance
    • Panel of Experts -“Tools of the Trade”
